Why this one specifically
Unlike a breadboard end, where the joinery itself has to flex around a perpendicular-grain joint, a frame-captured panel (a raised panel in a door, or a tabletop resting in a groove with slotted fasteners) is meant to float entirely free of the frame that surrounds it. The frame's own cross-grain members barely move; the panel does all the moving, so every groove, slot and fastener securing it has to be sized to this figure rather than to the panel's dry-fit dimension. Undersize that clearance and a humid summer can crack the panel or bow the frame outward at the joint.
